Robert Howe's Kenny Ball Page

My Kenny Ball pages cover:

Kenny Ball Websites

Kenny Ball will be appearing at Haslemere Festival in Surrey UK on Wednesday, May 19th, 2004. Tickets are £12 from Haslemere Hall Box Office.

I received a note from an Ian Bateman; he said he's working with the band's management on their official website. It's located at http://www.kennyball.co.uk.

OK, so this next one's really not run by Kenny Ball; it's hosted by InfoJazz (whose link, as of this writing, seems to have been taken over by an adult site). Still, it had more information on Kenny Ball than you'll find most anywhere else, at least until the official site came along. This one is at: http://www.kennyball.com.

Kenny Ball Play Lists

So you think you want to buy a CD or an LP, but you don't know what the tracks are? Here's the track listings from the CDs and LPs I own. There's a lot of them, so I've moved them off to separate pages. The pages are also exceedingly large because I've included pictures of the CD or LP covers.

Sites on the Internet selling Kenny Ball recordings

I like buying CDs from Amazon.com and CDNow. They often show play lists and other information that's handy when you're trying to decide whether to buy or not. You'll have to enter the search information yourself; sorry!

You can go to amazon.com, but www.amazon.co.uk seems to have a bigger selection.

Amazon.com
CDNow

If you're looking for biggest selection possible, try GEMM.com. GEMM seems to be a clearinghouse for all the resellers of new and used LPs and CDs. Businesses and Individuals both have items for sale. You probably won't find track listings (for that, try my CD track listing or LP track listing pages)--that's one drawback. I do like how GEMM has rated the sellers. I haven't bought from any of these folks yet, but with such a selection, how can I resist much longer?! There's a few LPs and CDs that I have my eye on that neither Amazon or CDNow carry...

These other CD resellers don't carry stock; they order a CD after you place your order. They don't have play lists, you often can't determine the label of the CD, and the same CD may be listed differently by different supplier of these resellers. I've been tempted to buy one or two CDs from these folks, but I just haven't been able to convince myself that it's worth the risk of possibly winding up with a CD I already have.

Good used Kenny Ball LPs are harder to find than CDs. And if you don't have a good turntable, LPs are kinda useless. However, if you're a collector, these folks sometimes have Kenny Ball LPs:

eBay Kenny Ball seaches

I've gotten hooked on eBay, one of the biggest internet auction sites. Kenny Ball items run hot and cold--sometimes there's half a dozen or more items being auctioned off at once, and other times there's nothing.

Just a warning before you go wild: two scientists did a study of auctions and concluded, in general, if you bought it at an auction, you've paid too much. (They studied gas and oil lease auctions, and noted that the company with the most optimistic estimate of the gas and oil reserves would be the winning bidder...but usually the most optimistic estimate was wrong. The more open the bidding (ie, the more bidders), the more likely the price paid was too high. The conclusion carries to pretty much any auction, as the high bidder is the one placing an unrealisticly high value on the item.)

For what it's worth, here's some links showing what's currently for sale, and what's recently sold on eBay:

I still buy Kenny Ball items from eBay....

Clevedon Jazz Club

I must provide a link to the Clevedon Jazz Club in Sommerset, UK. They're the first UK jazz club on the internet, and, in late 1996 I saw they were going to have Kenny Ball in Concert on my birthday in April 1997. I was lucky enough to be able to attend; here's a copy of the local newspaper article.

Visit the Clevedon Jazz Club web site to see what's new.
